About kingmidget

About the name. I was the youngest of four. Until I got to kindergarten, I didn't have much to say. All I had to do to get what I wanted was to point, and a sibling, or loving parent, would fulfill my request. As a result, my father coined the nickname -- King Midget. At least that's the way the story goes. I am a father, husband, friend, and lover, writer, runner, pizza maker, baker, and many other things. What I am not is my occupation. It is my job that pays the bills and provides for my family. But, it does not define me.

    Hi King Midget,

Thank you for sharing the photo. Do you mean actually “The world’s most endangered animal ….” rather than “The world’s most dangerous animal ….”?

  2. Hahaha I agree….dangerous and a pain
in my behind!!! The one that visit’s my fish ponds has devoured half of my fish! I put a deer net over the pond and he still stabbed at them until they died, he just couldn’t get them out to eat them leaving me to remove the net and the dead fish every time!

  3. Great picture. Are you still working on the novel you said you have not finished above?

    • kingmidget says:

The novel is one of several half-completed works I have ground to a halt on. I’m suffering from massive writer’s block and have yet to figure a way out. The novel referenced has a working title of The Irreparable Past. About an older man who has lived a life that has left him living alone on the shores of a bay, where his only true companion is a crane/heron that visits each evening and feeds in the shallows in front of his home. It’s a story I really like, but … well, I just got bogged down and am stuck.

      • Oh wow now the picture and comment make perfect sense! I am sorry to hear about your writers block. That is the worst feeling for a writer. Have you tried do something else creative that is completely out of your comfort zone? I have found that to sometimes jumpstart my writing again.

I really want to paint, but I’m afraid to. Keep talking myself out of it. Which is stupid, but you’re suggestion is right on.

      • That is not stupid at all. Stepping out of your creative comfort zone is scary! Try something simple first like fingerpainting! I know that sounds crazy, but crazy creativity might be what you need right now!

      • kingmidget says:

I’ve done a couple of paint nights. What I’d like to do is just practice blending colors and learning how to do that better and then move to painting something “real.” We’ll see. Thank you for the encouragement. I really appreciate it. Maybe I’ll try fingerpainting instead. I kind of like that idea. I’ve thought about just throwing paint against a canvas. 😉

      • There is a scene from The Princess Diaries (I think it’s that movie) where they throw darts at balloons stuck to canvas that are filled with paint. It made a really cool painting! Or you could go all Jackson Pollock and drip and splash paint on canvas. It could be very cathartic and release your block. I know it is easy for me to write that, but much harder to do it!

      • kingmidget says:

Cathartic … that’s exactly what I need. Whether it’s writing a story that just blows out the barricades in my head or throwing paint at a wall that just releases it all I feel like I need to do something like that. I need to blow away my internal editor, blow out the clogs that have developed. I need Liquid Plumber for the creative mind!

Thank you for “talking” with me about this tonight. It always help to get ideas and encouragement.

I look forward to reading more of your work on your blog.

      • Liquid Plumber for the Creative Mind!! Love it! If you could bottle that and sell it you would be an instant millionaire!

You are very welcome! I enjoyed our conversation. I do hope that your dry spell ends very soon!

Looking forward to reading more of your blog!
